MODERN DAY EXHAUSTION.

I was talking to a 'friend' the other day, and we were both trying to 'help' understand why we were all so exhausted.. Why perhaps as a result of marital arguments, we were too tired to even deal with any of it. Adrenals and thyroid came up in conversation. I saw that it was definately something I would like to address in myself, as I am type A, so very dynamic and often running on 'adrenaline'.. It's highly important to find balance in life, to 'chillax', and to not over do anything.. Otherwise the Adrenals get depleted and ultimately lead to other conditions not to be ignored. Let me look deeper into this and find some good ways to a: recognise the symptoms, and b: perhaps work on healing that 'modern day' issue we are all suffering from.. Oh i hear it on a day to day basis!

Infact I was giving my friend Kathryn a massage only yesterday, and her adrenals were quite tight. I gave her one, because somebody gave me one and I noticed such a huge difference just from having that 'contact' with somebody.

so step 1.

why not offer a good friend a massage for the hell of it :) Why are we all so 'touch phobe' at times.. you know u want to! :D

Gosh Kirsty, I wish I could offer some advice, but I'm not sure since I'm male, not married, no kids to look after, no travel obligations etc. So, I guess I have it pretty good.
But I do work 40 hour weeks, mostly nights, commute 300 miles a week, try to squeeze in as much cycling and skiiing as I can in my spare time. I just rode 60 miles on the bike in -4c weather this last weekend. I have ridden 6,000 miles this summer.
As a raw fooder, you'd probably be horrified by my diet. I'm at the age when most people succumb to all kinds of 'ailments' but, damm I still feel like a kid and doing so much stuff. :))
I just dont know what the answer is Kirsty. My theory is that most women are starving themselves to stay attractive, and thier metabolism starts slowing down in
response. This may lead to a lack of energy. I know that I wouldnt try to drive a car on no gas, but our society demands women starve themselves in order to stay attractive. Its just such a terrible thing to see and to have to put women through ,I think.
So, on one hand I commend you that you are trying to stay on a raw and healthy diet, but I also am worried that it may be a cause of a lack of energy.
Please consider taking naps throughout the day, if you dont already do so. I just feel so bad for you, Kirsty, I know you work so very hard and try to keep so many people happy and hate letting anyone down . You have to be kind to yourself first however.

I hope you have been able to recoup, find balance. A massage sounds wonderful right about now...

Whenever I feel drained for whatever reason, I notice I'll crave certain things. And it's never the same things, just whatever my body requires at the particular time. It could be wanting more greens or more fatty foods like avocado or nut/seed-based dishes. If my hormones feel out of whack, I'll usually want an increase of maca powder and/or raw choco. If my immunity seems off, then I'll usually want an increase of goji berries or ginger root. I just go with whatever feels appropriate, and try not to over think about what I "should" be eating. Sleep helps me too, though I'm generally naughty in that department being a night owl. We can eat the "best" foods and still feel depleted if we are under any sort of extra strain. Food is just a part of it. We've also got psychological and spiritual aspects to consider...our thoughts and feelings affect us on so many levels.
